MORROW, Ga. – The Clayton State University women's basketball team welcomed the Saints of Flagler College to the Loch on Saturday afternoon. The Saints outscored the Lakers, 33-28 in the second half and went onto win, 77-72. In the game,
Jadah Waite became the ninth Laker to score 1,000 career points.
The Lakers shot the lights out of the ball in the first quarter.
Nya Young scored the first six points for the Lakers and the score read, 7-6. At that score, the Lakers went on a 17-2 run and made the score, 21-9.
Amiyah Edney-Holmes drained a pair of threes during that stretch.
Dazjanae Greene and
Hannah Wright buried threes in the final moments of the quarter and the Lakers jumped out to a 29-20 lead going into the second quarter.
Flagler came out to play in the second quarter scoring 24 points including the first five and made the score, 29-25. The Lakers then saw early offense by Waite,
Sariya Henry, and
Aniya Jones and the Lakers clung to a four-point lead at 36-32. At the score, 38-32, the Saints went on an 8-2 run and tied the game at 40.
Wright hit a three in the closing seconds of the half but Flagler held the slim 44-43 lead going into the halftime break. The Saints shot 17-for-20 from free throw line in the half.

The Lakers saw baskets from
Ky'Leo Worriels and Henry early in the third quarter and retook the lead at 53-51. The Saints finished the third quarter on a 7-1 run and led 59-54. The Saints extended their run as they scored the first 10 points and grew their lead to 69-54. Waite then took over the game for the Lakers and scored the next six Laker points and made the score, 71-60. The Lakers then saw baskets from Wright, Henry, and Waite, and Greene and closed the gap to five at 75-70 with 38 ticks left.
The Lakers got within three in the final moments of the game, qabut Flagler pulled off a 77-72 win.

- Waite led the Lakers with 16 and became the ninth Laker to surpass the 1,000 career mark. The last Laker to surpass 1,000 career points was current CSU women's basketball Associate Coach Brittany Hall who achieved that feat in 2012. Jadah is currently in ninth all-time with 1,009 points.
- Henry followed with 13 points and nine boards.
- The Lakers made seven threes and went 5-for-7 in the first quarter.
