Ariyonna Jones Earns her Third PBC Track Athlete of the Week Honor

Jones broke the school record in the 400m & 200m dashes this past weekend

MORROW, Ga. – The Peach Belt Conference (PBC) selected Clayton State University women's track & field senior Ariyonna Jones for its weekly Female Track Athlete of the Week.  The announcement came from the conference office on Monday afternoon.  This is the third such distinction for Jones this season. 
 
Jones had a record-setting performance at the University of South Alabama Jaguar Indoor Invitational on Sunday.  Ariyonna broke the school record in the 400m & 200m dashes with times of 56.77 and 24.89, respectively.  Jones becomes the first Laker to go sub 57 seconds in the 400m while she is also the first to also go sub 25 seconds in the 200m dash.  Ariyonna finished 3rd in the 400m and crossed the finish line seventh in the 200m.  Jones and the Lakers were going up against some of the best Division I, II, NAIA, and premier junior colleges in the Southeast at the meet.

  • Regionally: 2nd
  • Conference: 1st
 
The Lakers compete in the inaugural Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Indoor Track & Field Championships on Monday, February 19th.  The meet will be held down in Gainesville, Fla.
