MORROW, Ga. – The Clayton State University women's basketball team defeated Flagler College, 79-61, on Homecoming Saturday at the Loch. The Lakers only played with eight players but managed to down Flagler by double digits.
The two teams played to an 11 tie to start the first quarter.
Jada Alston,
Hannah Wright,
Deborrah Redmon, and
Tamaria White knocked in baskets for the Lakers. The Lakers eventually took a 17-14 lead, but Flagler ended the quarter on a 10-0 run and led, 24-17. The Lakers then answered at the beginning of the second quarter and took the lead at 25-24.
Nina Blade, Wright, and Redmon scored during that run. At the end of the half and with Flagler leading 37-35, the Lakers saw baskets from
Devyne Turner and Redmon and took a 39-37 lead going into the half.

The Lakers started the third quarter and led by as much as 10 at 49-39. Blade,
Aaliyah Reid, Turner, White, and Redmon all scored for the Lakers. The Lakers kept their foot on the gas as Alston tossed in a three and Reid added field goals down the stretch as they took a 59-51 lead going into the fourth quarter. Clayton State saw good offensive production in the third quarter but they showed their defensive prowess in the fourth quarter as Flagler was only able to muster only 10 points. At the beginning of the quarter,
Sariya Henry, Reid, and Redmon marked baskets making the score, 68-57. In the final couple minutes of the game, both Henry and Alston drained threes and the Lakers went up 76-61.
Clayton State outscored Flagler, 40-24, in the second half and won the game, 79-61.

- Alston led the Lakers with 17 points on 5-for-6 shooting from the three-point line.
