MORROW, Ga. – In front of a packed house at the Loch on Homecoming Saturday, the Clayton State University men's basketball team were edged by Flagler, 76-75. Flagler guard Omar Figueroa hit a buzzer-beating three to down the Lakers.
The first half saw the Lakers take a 12-9 lead early. However, both teams went ice cold from the field and there was not a made field goal for the next four minutes.
Jamall Clyce,
Mohamad Diallo, and
Tyler Shirley all made baskets for the Lakers. The offensive intensity picked up near the halfway point of the half. With the score knotted up at 17 with seven minutes left, the Lakers saw baskets from Shirley,
Travis Harper II, and
Marcus Harris and they took a 28-23 lead.
The Saints and Lakers played a back-and-forth rest of the half, but Flagler led 36-33 going into the halftime break. The two teams combined for only two made three-pointers.

The second half saw Flagler put back-to-back threes and extended their lead to six at 42-36. Most of the half was controlled by Flagler as they led by as much as nine points. With nine minutes to go, the Lakers started cutting into their deficit. With the score, 61-52, threes by
TJ Stargell and Shirley ignited a 14-4 run and took the lead at 65-64. After Flagler retook the lead with five minutes left, the Lakers went on a 9-2 run and led 73-68.
However, the Saints closed the game on an 8-2 run and eventually won the game on a buzzer-beating three to take down the Lakers, 76-75.

- Harper II led the Lakers with a career-high 26 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Travis also went 13-for-15 from the free throw line.
- Shirley followed Harper II with 22 points on six boards.
- The Lakers shot 76% from the free throw line.
- Clayton State shot 66% from the three-point line in the second half.
- The Lakers had 15 assists on 23 made baskets.
