MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Clayton State University men's basketball team starts their final road trip of the regular season as they play the Bobcats of Georgia College & State University on Wednesday night. The Lakers suffered an 87-73 setback.
The two teams were tied at eight at the beginning of the first half.
Jamall Clyce hit a pair of shots while
Tyler Shirley and
TJ Stargell each marked a field goal. After
Keandre Bowles knocked down a three to make the score, 15-13, GCSU went on an 11-3 run and went up 26-16.
Wes Williams hit a jumper to halt the run. The Bobcats would take control of the final seven minutes of the half as they outscored the Lakers 20-6 and led at the half, 46-22. Bowles led the Lakers with five points while
Travis Harper II led the team with five boards.
Halftime: GCSU 46, Clayton State 22
Harper II scored 10 of the first 14 points for the Lakers to open the second half and closed the gap to 53-46. The Bobcats continued to control the tempo of the game during the second half and consistently led by double-digits. Clyce, Bowles, Mohamed Diallo, and
Kenneth Brayboy also scored in the first 10 minutes of the half. Harper II continued to pace the Lakers down the stretch in the half as he scored 13 points in the next four minutes of the game. The Lakers were behind 79-63. Travis ended the game with his first 30-point game of this career.
Shirley, Stargell, and Bowles scored points in the final three minutes by Georgia College topped Clayton State 87-73.

- Harper II scored 27 of his 30 points in the second half. He added seven boards and was 12-for-12 from the free throw line, which is the third-most consecutive free throws made in school history.
- Bowles followed with 13 points and went 6-for-6 from the free throw line. He also hit the only three for the Lakers all game.
- The Lakers went 22-for-23 from the charity strike.
