COLUMBUS, Ga. – The Clayton State University women's basketball battled the Columbus State University Couguars on Wednesday evening.  The Lakers fell to the Cougars, 64-54. 
 
The Lakers got off to a sluggish start to the game as they only were only able to muster six points in the first 10 minutes and trailed 16-6 going into the second quarter.  The Lakers then turned it on offensively in the second quarter exploding for 19 points but still trailed 28-25 going into the halftime break.  Aaliyah Reid led the Lakers with nine points and six boards.  Jasmyn Burts followed that up with six points.

The Cougars then roared back and outscored the Lakers, 18-10, in the third quarter and extended their lead to, 46-35.  Hannah Wright scored six of the 10 points in the quarter for Clayton State.  In the fourth quarter, the Lakers again saw some good sparks of offense.  Devyne Turner and Deborrah Redmon tossed in 12 of the 19 points scored in the quarter for the Lakers.
 
Neither team knocked down a field goal in the final three minutes of the game, but Columbus State still managed to win the game, 64-54.

• The Lakers fall to 8-14 and 6-7 in the PBC while the Cougars improve to 13-8 and 9-4 in the Peach Belt. 
• Reid led the Lakers with 11 points and nine boards.
• Wright followed with nine points while Redmon and Turner followed with eight and seven points respectively.

• The Lakers did not make a three in the game (0-for-16).
