MORROW, Ga. – The Clayton State University women's basketball team welcomed the RV Broncos of Fayetteville State University to the Loch for the 2024-25 Home Opener on Saturday afternoon. The Lakers suffered an 81-62, setback.
The first half proved to be very high paced. The Lakers and Broncos traded the first 10 points and found themselves deadlocked at five.
Kyla Greene hit a three in the early going for the Lakers. The two teams went back-and-forth in the first quarter.
Etaria Gibbons and
Jasmyn Burts all hit baskets in the final stretch of the first quarter, but Fayetteville State was up 22-18 after the first 10 minutes.
The Lakers took the lead early in the second quarter after
Sariya Henry and
Kyla Greene hit field goals, making the score 23-22. After the Broncos hit back-to-back threes,
Hannah Wright responded with a three of her own and made the score, 28-26. After FSU went on a 6-0 run,
Dazjanae Greene and Waite made shots and cut the deficit to four at 34-30.
The Broncos took a 36-32 lead going into the halftime break.

The Lakers took the lead at 41-40, to begin the third quarter, after Waite, Burts, and
Kyla Greene all made baskets. The Broncos then went on a 10-2 run and jumped out to a seven point lead at 50-43. The Broncos led, 58-47 going into the fourth quarter. Fayetteville State then led by 16 early in the fourth quarter at 66-50. Dazjaene and
Kyla Greene then scored the six points for the Lakers and cut the lead to 12 at 68-56.
Henry, Burts, and Gibbons buried buckets down the stretch but the Broncos spoil the Lakers' home opener, winning, 81-62.
