MORROW, Ga. – The Clayton State University men's basketball returned to the Loch and hosted the Sand Sharks of USC Beaufort on Saturday afternoon. Three Lakers registered double-doubles as they went onto win, 98-86.
The Lakers scored 12 of the first 16 points in the first half as they led, 12-4.
Tyler Shirley and
Wes Williams made threes while
Eddie Page and
Travis Harper II contributed baskets. After the Sand Sharks got within two at 15-13, Harper II and
Christian Chambers knocked down threes and made the score 21-13. At 23-21,
Jamall Clyce made a trio of baskets and
TJ Stargell added another as the Lakers pulled out to a 31-23 lead.
In the final 2:30 of the half, the Lakers saw points from
Keandre Bowles,
Kenneth Brayboy, Harper II, and Stargell and took a 43-35 lead going into the second half.

The Sand Sharks and the Lakers played a very close first part of the second half as neither team could gain any momentum from the other. Shirley and Page produced the offense in the first six minutes as the Lakers led, 54-50. After USCB tied the game at 54, a layup by
Kennedy Brown and a three-ball by Stargell made the score 59-57. With the score tied at 64, Bowles converted an and-one opportunity and Harper II made a jumper to put the Lakers up five at 69-64. Clyce then scored the next four points for the Lakers and made the score 73-66, with 7:30 left.
The Sand Sharks got within four at 79-75 with 4:42 left but the Lakers pulled away. Stargell, Harper II, and Shirley all ripped the ball through the nylon as the Lakers pulled out to an 86-76 lead.
Elijah Dates, Clyce, Shirley, and Harper II all marked points down the stretch for Clayton State as they took down USCB, 98-86.
