Women's Basketball Prevails over.USC Aiken on Saturday Afternoon

MORROW, Ga. – The Clayton State University women's basketball team took out USC Aiken, 65-53, inside the Loch on Saturday afternoon.  The Lakers were led by Jadah Waite's 19 points. 
 
The Pacers took an early, 14-7 lead, as they stifled the Lakers offensively.  However, Clayton State started to take off offensively.    Sariya Henry's jumper with 2:36 left in the quarter ignited a 9-1 run to end the quarter.  The Lakers led the Pacers, 16-15 after the first 10 minutes of play.  Hannah Wright, Jada Alston, and Devyne Turner all made field goals during that stretch. 
 
The Pacers retook the lead at 18-16 early in the second quarter but the Lakers fought back.  Alston, Henry, and Jasmyn Burts all buried jumpers and opened a 22-18 lead.  After the Pacers made a field goal, the Lakers kept their foot on the gas as they went on a 7-0 run and extended their lead to 29-20.  Waite buried a three during that stretch.  The Pacers then answered with an 8-0 run of their own and closed the gap to 29-28. 
 
The Pacers led 32-31 at the halftime break.

The Lakers came out of the locker room firing on all cylinders as they went on a 9-1 run and made the score 39-34.  The two teams went ice cold for the next four minutes and the score read, 39-37.  The Lakers then went on a 13-1 run to end the quarter.  Coach Coleman's squad led, 52-38, going into the final quarter of play. 
 
After USC Aiken opened the quarter up with a pair of free throws, Aaliyah Reid's jumper started a 7-3 run and made the score, 59-43.  At the score, 61-45, the Pacers tried to fight their way back into the game and went on a 8-2 run and made the score 63-53. 
 
The Lakers prevailed over the Pacers, 65-53.
