MORROW, Ga. – Former Clayton State University men's basketball player
Kobie Johnson signed a professional contract to play overseas in Azerbaijan for the Baku Basketball Club. Johnson is one of 12 former Lakers that are currently playing overseas and one of four players that played for head coach Vince Alexander.
"We are extremely proud of Kobie Johnson and very happy for his accomplishment," said Coach Alexander. "Kobie has learned a lot during his tenure here with us the last couple of years. I know that he will far well as a professional."
In his three seasons in Morrow, Johnson averaged 8.5 points a game. In his three year career, Johnson made 89 three pointers, shot 36.8% from beyond the arc, marked 141 assists, 38 steals, and averaged 2.2 rebounds a game. Johnson also notched 23 games of double-digit scoring and scored a career-high 22 vs. Columbus State on January 8, 2022. Johnson is currently the school-record holder after shooting 87.7% from the free throw line last season. In his career, Kobie is an 83.2% free throw shooter.
