MORROW, Ga. – On a cold, rainy Saturday afternoon, the Clayton State University men's soccer team hosted the Flagler College Saints at Laker Field.  The Lakers earned a clean sheet victory, 2-0.
 
The two teams played a very physical first half and the tone was set early when Flagler picked up a yellow card in the second minute of the match.  The Lakers pressed the Saint defense throughout as Hector Fuentes, Alexis Iturria, and Vic Delgado Miller all fired in shots in the first 20 minutes of the match. 
 
The Lakers then finally cracked the scoring column. In the 26^th minute, Adrian Gallegos was fouled in the box and the Lakers earned a penalty shot opportunity.  Geo Rios took the penalty shot and fired a shot past the Saint keeper for a goal.  Clayton State led 1-0. 
 
The Lakers outshot the Saints 14-3 in the first half and took a 1-0 lead going into the half.  The two teams combined for 17 fouls and two cards also in the first half.

The second half was chippy and physical throughout as the two teams combined for eight yellow cards and 20 fouls.  The Lakers saw Hector Fuentes, Iturria, Delgado Miller and Wifried Kamden send in shot, but none found the back of the net as the score still read, 1-0.  The best shot the Saints had been in the 53^rd and 56^th minutes as Mauricio Uribe made a couple of good saves as he kept the match at 1-0. 
 
The Lakers sealed the match late in the half.  In the 88^th minute, Rios was streaking down the fair side and hooked up with Iturria as he rifled the ball past the Saint keeper for a goal.  Clayton State led 2-0. 
 
The two teams played very aggressively throughout but the Lakers sealed a clean sheet victory winning, 2-0.
