NORMAN, Okla. – The 2023 NCAA Division II PING All-Region honorees have been selected by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) on Thursday afternoon.   
 
Clayton State University men's golfer Felipe Gomez was selected for this honor. Gomez was one of six golfers in the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) that received this distinction. This is the second straight season that at least one Clayton State golfer was named an all-region selection. 
 
Gomez had a phenomenal season this season for the Lakers. At the 2023 NCAA Division II South/Southeast Regional, Felipe was one of three Lakers that led the team with a score of 215 (+2).  Overall, this season, Gomez, who earned first-team All-PBC this season, led the Lakers with four top-10 finishes, and led the team with an average score of 72.21.  Felipe was also the team leader with 13 rounds of par or better golf and carded the lowest round of the season as he shot a 67 in the second round of the Cougar Invitational. Gomez also played three rounds with scores in the 60s and saw his best finish come in the McCoy-Wright Currahee Invitational when he finished in a tie for second.
