NORMAN, Okla. – The 2023 NCAA Division II PING All-America teams were announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) on Tuesday morning.  Clayton State University men's golfer Felipe Gomez is recognized as an Honorable Mention All-America selection. 

Gomez becomes the first Laker since 2020 to be earn the distinction of All-America and is just the third selection in Coach Hank Kim's tenure.  Gomez is one of four golfers in the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) to earn this exceptional distinction. 

Gomez had a phenomenal season this season for the Lakers. At the 2023 NCAA Division II South/Southeast Regional, Felipe was one of three Lakers that led the team with a score of 215 (+2).  Overall, this season, Gomez, who earned first-team All-PBC and All-Southeast Region honors, led the Lakers with four top-10 finishes and with an average score of 72.21.  Felipe was also the team leader with 13 rounds of par or better golf and carded the lowest round of the season when he shot a 67 in the second round of the Cougar Invitational. Gomez also played three rounds with scores in the 60s and saw his best finish come in the McCoy-Wright Currahee Invitational when he finished in a tie for second.
