CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The Clayton State University track & field teams concluded its 2022-23 season at the Lee University Last Chance Meet on Saturday. Six different Laker runners competed for a chance to advance to the 2023 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships later this month.
The action for the Lakers started in the men's 400m dash as
Titus Hand (So. /Decatur, Ga.) finished seventh with a final time of 48.05.
Nigel Roulhac (Sr./Columbus, Ga.), who also competed in the race, finished in 16
th place with a time of 48.68 while
Darryl Jefferson (Sr./Conyers, Ga.) finished in 29
th place with a time of 50.20. The Lakers also saw
Adriana Ameer (Fr./ Chesapeake, Va.) race in the 400m hurdles. Ameer finished in sixth place with a time of 1:03.10. In the men's 400m hurdles race,
Jelani Ameer (So./College Park, Ga.) finished 21st with a final time of 59.22 seconds.
The Lakers concluded action on the track in the 4x400 meter relay as the team of Hand, Roulhac,
Sancho Smith (Fr./Warwick, Bermuda), and
Jelani Ameer finished with a time of 3:14.40 and crossed the finish line in fourth place.
The Lakers had a tremendous season on the track. The team saw five school records broken, numerous personal records (PRs) and 30 qualifiers for the PBC Championships. This season also saw 14 all-conference performances and
Adriana Ameer become the first Laker to win PBC Outdoor Athlete of the Year honors.
