AUGUSTA, Ga. – The #10/11 Clayton State University men's golf team concluded the 2023 Peach belt Conference (PBC) Men's Championships on a positive note on Sunday at the Forest Hills Golf Club.  The Lakers held off Lander by two strokes to finish fifth in the field of nine teams. 
 
The Lakers, as a team, led the field of nine schools after averaging 4.13 strokes on the par-fours and was second in the field with 162 pars.  As a team, the Lakers carded 42 birdies and an eagle. 
 
The Lakers were led by senior Sam Hershoff.  Hershoff, who finished the day with a 71 (-1), led the team and was second in the field with averaging 2.92 strokes on the par-threes and carding 13 birdies.  In the final round, Sam shot four birdies and 11 pars.  Overall, Hershoff finished tied for ninth.  This is the third straight Championship that a Laker has finished in the top-10 individually.  Following Hershoff was Felipe Gomez.  Gomez shot a final round 75 (+3) and finished in tied for 17^th.  Gomez  led the team and was fifth out of 45 golfers and averaged 4.07 strokes on the par-fours.  Nico Cabello then followed Gomez.  The Laker senior carded a final-round 71 (-1) and finished in tied for 22^nd at seven-over.  Cabello was tied for third overall with 36 pars. 
 
Rounding out the Lakers was Augusto Oliva and Daniel Medellin.  Oliva also, like Gomez and Cabello, shot a final round 71 (-1) and finished in a tie for 25^th place.  Oliva carded four birdies on the round along with 11 pars.  Medellin, who shot the lone eagle for the Lakers on the par-five ninth hole, shot a final-round 73 (+1) and finished in tied for 34^th.
