AUGUSTA, Ga. – The #10/11 Clayton State University men's golf team teed off the 2023 Peach Belt Conference Men's Golf Championship, on Friday, at the Forest Hills Golf Club. The Lakers find themselves in fifth place after the first 18 holes.
As a team, Head Coach
Hank Kim's squad was second in the field with 4.10 strokes per par-fours and with 57 pars. The Lakers are led by first-team All-PBC selection
Felipe Gomez. Gomez, who finds himself in tied for third place, is one of five golfers in the field that finished under-par. Felipe shot a first round 71 (-1) and led the team writing four birdies in his scorecard. Following four strokes behind is
Sam Hershoff. The Laker senior shot a first round 75 (+3) and stands in tied for 17
th. Hershoff carded a pair of birdies in the round.
Nico Cabello and
Augusto Oliva follow behind Gomez and Hershoff. Cabello finds himself in tied for 24
th after carding a 76 (+4) in the first round. Oliva stands in tied for 38
th after shooting a first round 79 (+7). Cabello and Oliva combined for, four birdies.
Daniel Medellin rounds out the field for the Lakers as he finds himself tied with Oliva after also shooting a 79 (+7).
#4 North Georgia leads the nine-team field after shooting one-under as a team followed by Flagler at two-over.
The Lakers will be paired with USC Aiken and Georgia College in the second round on Saturday, April 22
nd. The three teams will start teeing off at 9:20 a.m. from the first hole.
