MORROW, Ga. – The Clayton State University women's basketball team earned its third straight win taking down the Saints of Flagler College, 76-44, on Senior Night.
The Lakers displayed stout defensive play in the first 10 minutes of the game.
Audrey McElhaney,
Jessica Maye, and
Diamond Swift all scored the early points for the Lakers as they led, 7-2. With four minutes left and at the score 9-4,
Jordan Jones buried a three and made the score 12-4. The Lakers only surrendered three more points in the rest of the quarter and pulled out in front 18-7 at the end of one quarter.
The Lakers kept up their strong defensive efforts into the second quarter.
Raven Riley's pull-up jumper sparked a 17-1 run for the Lakers as they ballooned their lead to 37-8.
Jasmyn Burts and
Laylah Davis made the last two field goals for the Lakers as they cruised into the halftime break up 43-14.

The Lakers saw early production from
Jada Francois Lubin and McElhaney to start the third quarter, but the Saints went on an 8-4 run. Clayton State led 47-22. Then, Swift drained a pair of threes and
Taniya Patrick made a jumper putting the Lakers up 55-22. The Saints then scored seven of the next eight points but still trailed 56-29. Flagler scored five of the final seven points, but the Lakers still held a commanding lead at 64-34 after three quarters.
Dana Johnson, McElhaney, and Swift all recorded baskets in the early going of the fourth quarter. The Lakers led 72-38. After Flagler scored six of the next eight points, Riley nailed a pair of free throws and made the score 76-44.
The Lakers surrendered the fewest points this season as they defeated the Saints of Flagler College, 76-44.
