Women's Basketball Concludes its Road Trip on Saturday Afternoon

GAFFNEY, S.C. – The Clayton State University women's basketball team concluded its lengthy road trip as they fell to Limestone University, 79-58, on Saturday afternoon. 
 
The Saint defense only held the Lakers to three points in the first quarter as they jumped out to a 14-3 lead.  Nina Blade's layup and Zoe Wiltz's free throw supplied the only offense for the Lakers.  The Laker's offensive struggles carried into the second quarter as they only made three field goals and finished the half a combined 4-for-25.  The first field goal for the Lakers in the second quarter came with three minutes left as Jadah Waite nailed a jumper and made the score 26-9.  Wiltz and Jada Alston made the two other field goals for Clayton State as they trailed 33-16 going into the half.

Jasmyn Burts fired in a three-pointer to start the third quarter for the Lakers.  The next eight points came from the free throw line until Aaliyah Reid knocked down a jumper with 1:10 left as the Lakers still fell behind 57-29 that the end of three quarters.  The offense finally clicked for Clayton State in the fourth quarter as Burts, Devyne Turner, and Tamaria White all scored points early.  The Saints still led 66-36.  Then, a three-pointer by Burts sparked an 11-3 run and made the score 69-47 with three-and-a-half left in the game. 
 
Burts accounted for the final eight Laker points but the Saints ended up topping Clayton State, 79-58.
