HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Clayton State University cross country teams raced in their final tune-up before the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Championships at the UAH Charger XC Invitational on Saturday morning. 
 
The men's team finished in 35^th place out of 45 teams while the women finished in 26^th out of 41 teams.  Charleston won the men's race while Tampa won the women's race.
 
MEN'S RACE
Leading the charge for the Lakers was Camron Gaddis.  Gaddis finished in 207th place with a time of 26:51.9.  Running in second on the team for the third straight meet was Rakiem Barnes.  Barnes crossed the finish line in 247^th place with a final time of 27:20.4.  Nevin Swanson and Nehemiah Horton followed behind.  Swanson, who finished in 261^st place, finished with a time of 27:35.1 while Horton finished in 337^th place with a time of 29:02.2.  Kharyi Davis rounded out the top five finishers on the Lakers with a time of 29:57.4.

WOMEN'S RACE
Leading the charge for the Lakers was Jada Warren.  Warren finished in 125^th place with a final time of 19:33.10.  Warren went sub-20 for the second time all season and fifth time in her career.  Running in 132^nd place was Story Alexander.  Alexander clocked a time of 19:41.70.   JaBresha Palmer and Ahlana Failey followed behind.  Palmer finished with a final time of 21:44.30 finishing in 250^th place while Failey raced to a time of 21:55.00 finishing in 257th place.  Ivorie Smith rounded out the Laker scorers with a time of 22:16.90 and crossed the finish line in 271^st place.

The Laker cross country teams run in the 2023 PBC Cross Country Championships hosted by the University of North Georgia on Saturday, October 21^st.  The women's race begins at 9 a.m. while the men's race follows at 10:15 a.m.
