Lakers Suffer a Home Setback on Wednesday Evening

MORROW, Ga. – The Clayton State University men's basketball team suffered a 92-69 setback against the Pacers of USC Aiken on Wednesday evening. 
 
The Lakers started hot from the field as Wes Williams, Kobie Johnson, and Brian Coffey II made a combined five three-pointers.  The Lakers led 15-12.  The two teams played a close first half until the Pacers went on a run.  After Baqi Lecky made a jumper making the score 24-21, USC Aiken went on an 8-0 run and grew their lead to 32-24.  Johnson drained a three to end that scoring run. 
 
With two minutes left in the half, a four-point play by Dudley Blackwell sparked a 9-2 run to end the half.  The Lakers were still behind by 10 at 47-37.

Blackwell started the second half with a bang and dunked one home and cut the Pacer lead to 47-39.  USC Aiken then took back control of the game and went on to score nine of the next 10 points and grew their lead to 56-40.  After Ricardo Saams Jr. nailed a three and moved the score to 71-52, the Pacers went on a 7-0 run and extended their lead to 78-52.  The Lakers then saw Saams Jr. and Travis Harper II combined for the next eight points of the game cutting the USC Aiken to 78-60. 
 
The Pacers controlled the tempo of the second half and handed the Lakers a 92-69 loss.
