MORROW, Ga. – The Clayton State University men's basketball concluded their homestand with a loss against the Bobcats of Georgia College and State University, 78-62.
Th Bobcats controlled the tempo of the game from the get-go. They started the first half on a 14-3 run. The only field goal from the Lakers was converting an and-one opportunity from
Ricardo Saams Jr. With Georgia College up 25-8, a three by
Travis Harper II and a field goal by
Bryce Weinmunson made the score 25-13. At the score 32-18,
Xavier Joyner knocked down a pair of three-pointers and made the score, 34-24. Harper II then put a dunk home and closed the gap to 34-26.
The Bobcats end the half on an 8-4 run and held a 42-30 advantage at the half.
Halftime: Georgia College 42, Clayton State 30
Georgia College extended their lead come out of the halftime break and scored the first four points making the score, 46-30. Then, the Lakers tallied eight of the next 12 points and cut the Bobcat lead to 50-38.
Kobie Johnson hit a three during that run. After the Bobcats go on a run, at the score 62-40, the Lakers counter with a run of their own as they scored the next 12 points. Georgia College still held a 10-point lead at 62-52.
Wes Williams nailed a pair of threes.
The Lakers tossed in nine of the final 14 points, but Georgia College defeated Clayton State, 78-62.
