Laker Men's Golf Finishes Third in the Cougar Invitational

Gomez and Medellin finish in the top five, individually

COLUMBUS, Ga. – The Clayton State University men's golf team traveled to the Green Island Country Club to play in the Cougar Invitational on Monday and Tuesday.  The Lakers finished the tournament in third place behind Anderson and Lee.

Leading the charge for the Lakers was Felipe Gomez.  Gomez is the leader after 36-holes played shooting five-under.  Gomez carded a 68 in the first round and 67 in the second round.  The Santander, Spain native was one of five individuals that finished under-par or better in the first 36 holes. Gomez led the field with going four-under on par fours.

Following Gomez was Daniel Medellin.  Medellin finished the first 36 holes in sixth place after shooting one-over.  Medellin shot a 69 in the first round before carding a 72 (+2) in the second round.  Augusto Oliva and Nico Cabello followed behind.  Oliva finished the first day in tied for 22nd and Cabello stood in tied for 26th.  Making his season debut was Tony Wu.  Wu finished his first 36-holes in tied for 54th

The Lakers finished the first day with the best score on par fours in the field and was third with 106 pars.

Gomez continued to lead the Lakers in the final round.  The Laker junior shot a final round 75 (+5) and finished in third place.
