AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Clayton State University men's golf team opened its 2022-23 at the Lander University hosted Bearcat Fall invitational on Monday and Tuesday.  The Lakers finished in tied for sixth place, overall. 
 
Daniel Medellin led the Lakers after the first 36 holes of the tournament.  The Laker sophomore carded a 36-hole total of 145 (+1) and stood in tied for 14^th place.  Medellin shot the only eagle on the day for the Lakers.  Following behind was Augusto Oliva and Nico Cabello.  Oliva and Caballo, who both stood in tied for 34^th place, carded a 148 (+4).  Rounding out the Laker golfers was newcomer Felipe Gomez and senior Sam Hershoff.  Gomez, who shot a 36-hole total of 149 (+5), found himself in tied for 40^th place, overall.  Hershoff finished the first two rounds in tied for 61^st and shot a score of 154 (+10).  Clayton State, as a team, found themselves in fifth place after the first 36-holes.  
 
Medellin also led the Lakers in the final 18 holes on Tuesday.  The Bogota, Colombia native shot a final round 72 (E) and finished in tied for 12^th place.  Medellin led the team, over the two days, with going -4 on par-five holes.  Following up Medellin was Oliva.  Oliva finished tied for 30^th with a final round 75 (+3).   Cabello then finished in tied for 47^th after carding a final round 79 (+7).  Gomez and Hershoff rounded out the Laker finishers, placing in tied for 53^rd and 59^th, respectively. 
 
The Lakers finished the tournament tied for sixth with Erskine College.  The Lakers beat out four ranked teams, including the No. 4 team in the country in Lincoln Memorial.
