AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Peach Belt Conference has announced the finalists for the 2021-22 PBC Play of the Year that includes a pair of dunks from men's basketball junior
Jalen Shaw.
Fans can vote for his dunks
here. Voting will conclude Friday morning.
During the men's basketball season, Shaw earned a pair of PBC Plays of the Month. The first place on Nov. 11 against Tuskegee and began with
Austin Hadden bringing the ball up the court in which he quickly passed to
Ricardo Lynch. Shaw then set a pick for Lynch and called for the ball off the screen, but Lynch passed back to Hadden.
Another screen by Shaw and a move by Hadden drew the double-team, leaving Shaw open right outside the paint. Hadden managed to get the ball to Shaw who then took one step before slamming the ball down to put the Lakers up by 15 points.
Clayton State managed to win the game over the Golden Tigers by nine.
Evan Crowell (Twitter:

His second Play of the Month came against Valdosta State on Dec. 7 inside The Loch. After receiving the inbound pass from
Brian Coffey II, Shaw was left one-on-one with his defender. A quick spin move gave the big man a clear lane to the basket, but a simple dunk was not in the cards.
With a second defender quickly sliding into help, Shaw went up for the reverse slam as the VSU defender smartly avoided being posterized.
The Lakers would go on to take an 81-75 win over the Blazers. Shaw finished with 17 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks.
Dave Cohen (Twitter:
@GaStateVoice) had the call. Shaw received 59.09% of the votes totaling 247 votes. The PBC contest captured the top plays from December and January.
Shaw's dunks are going against three plays from Flagler and two from Young Harris. Those two schools, along with Clayton State, were the only PBC institutions to win a Play of the Month.
