ALBANY, Ga. – The Clayton State men's track & field team placed 12th at the Alice Coachman Invitational on Saturday (April 9) as they wrapped the regular season.
Competing with a limited squad, nine Lakers participated in hopes to qualify for the Peach Belt Conference Championship that will take place on April 22-23.
D'Eris Jackson finished 3-of-32 in the long jump with a distance of 6.75m, which marks a person-best mark and ranks inside the top five of the PBC.
Abijah Wilcox finished 10th in the same event with a distance of 6.35m.
James Kilgore also had a strong showing in the 400m, finishing 6-of-43 after running 50.67.
Derrick Ward also had a pair of top-10 results with a 9-of-24 finish in the 110m Hurdles and a 5-of-29 finish in the 400m Hurdles.
Clayton State will take the next week off before running in the PBC Championships.
