ATLANTA - The Clayton State track & field program competed in seven events across the men's and women's teams on Friday at the Emory Spring Break Classic.
D'Eris Jackson led the way on the men's side with a fifth place finish in the long jump. He cleared 6.54m on his final attempt. Jackson led teammates
Justin Johnson (ninth) and
Abijah Wilcox (12th) in the field of 28 competitors.
In the women's 200m,
Cayla Brown ran 25.90 to take fifth in the field of 57.
Ny'Asia Green finished 12th,
Aija Wall placed 19 while
Paige Searles finished 22.
Roderick Winfrey finished ninth in the men's 200m with a time of 22.47. In a field of 56, he led teammates
Kelvin Oppong (22nd),
Diarra-James Powell-Burgess (29th) and
Gary Moore (39th).
Derrick Ward placed seventh in the men's 400m hurdles after running 57.96.
Churchill Ezeokonkwo finished 22nd in his first ever attempt in the event.
Kalkidan Hawkins ran 5:39.33 in the women's 1500m, placing 22nd. In the women's javelin, Kamila Mroziewicz threw 16.92m to finish 20th while Aubrey Harrison placed 25th and Ida Ditlevsen wound up 29th.
The Lakers will return to Atlanta on Saturday to wrap up thier first of two meets at Emory.
