Women's Track & Field | February 23, 2026
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Clayton State University track & field teams competed in the 2026 Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Indoor Track & Field Championships. The Lakers saw strong performances from up and down the lineup. The women placed fourth with 71 points while the men finished fifth with 63. Embry-Riddle earned the conference championship in both the men's and women's sides.
MEN'S SIDE
Action on the track started in the 60m dash with
Kevin Turner qualifying for the finals with a time of 6.94. Turner ended up finishing in fourth in the finals with a final time of 6.90. That time is good for second in program history.
Marcus Robinson finished in ninth in the prelims.
Davonte Jackson got his day started with qualifying for the 60m hurdles and ended up in fourth in the finals with a time of 8.33, which is a good for a new program record. In the 200m dash,
Marcus Robinson finished fourth with a time of 21.93. That time is good for a tie for third all-time.
Camron Gaddis then took the mile run by storm and broke the school record with a time of 4:13.06. The record stood for more than a decade, and he finished fourth in the race. In the 800m run,
Rakiem Barnes finished sixth with a time of 1:53.79 while
Sancho Smith clocked the seventh fastest time at 1:55.40. The meet ended with a pair of relays. The team of
Nehemiah Horton, Jamian Wright, Barnes, and Gaddis finished in fifth with a time of 10:49.02 in the DMR. Then, the 4x400m relay team of Robinson,
Drewmel Banks, Smith, and Jackson finished in third and gathered all-conference honors with a time of 3:20.07.
In the field, Jackson finished in third in the long jump, capturing a new PR, with a final mark of 6.95m.
Derrick White and
Logan Wright also finished with PRs in the event with marks of 6.59m & 6.52m, respectively. Jackson then followed that up with an all-conference mark in the triple jump as he finished in third place with a final distance of 14.46m. White and Wright finished in sixth and seventh, respectively.
WOMEN'S SIDE
Action on the track started in the 60m dash with
Destiny Hanna and
Jada Jenkins both qualifying for the finals. In the finals, Hanna was crowned the conference champion with a time of 7.74 while Jenkins finished in fourth with a time of 7.89. Hanna's prelim time of 7.73 is a PBC Indoor Championships meet record and is tied for the all-time PBC indoor record. In the 200m dash, Jenkins picked up a new PR and finished in fourth with a time of 25.61 while
Ziona Harris and Hanna followed clocking times of 25.79 and 25.85.
Marley Tate then broke the school record and finished second in the 400m, crossing the finish line with a time of 56.46.
In the 800m run, Both
Ahlana Failey and
India Williamson hit new PRs. Failey finished in fifth with a time of 2:17.17 while Williamson clocked a time of 2:22.63. The Lakers then concluded matters on the track with a record-breaking performance in the 4x400m relay. The team of Tate, Williamson, Failey, and Harris were crowned the conference champions with a time of 3:58.40.
In the field,
Gabriella Lawrence finished in eighth in the long jump with a final mark of 5.01m. In the high jump,
Keira Davis finished as the conference runner-up with a final jump of 1.57m, which is a new PR and second all-time in program history. In the women's shot put,
Jacquelyn Johnson finished in fifth with a final throw of 10.63m, which is a new PR.
