MORROW, Ga. – The Clayton State men's basketball team fell 79-59 to Georgia Southwestern Wednesday night in a Peach Belt Conference matchup.

Both teams entered the game with a chance to still make the conference tournament. Clayton State needed to win out as GSW closed its regular season Wednesday. The Hurricanes will take the eighth and final spot for the league tournament.

The Lakers took a quick 2-0 lead before GSW evened the score. The Hurricanes would pull ahead 12-5 and maintained the advantage until taking a 10-point lead late in the half. They would lead 34-24 at the break.

The second half wasn't any better for the Lakers as GSW pulled away to take the 20-point win.

Xavier Womack continued his impressive streak as he had 18 points and nine rebounds in his second game leading the Lakers in scoring.

Kobie Johnson added 17 points and five rebounds.
