MORROW, Ga. – The Clayton State University women's basketball team returned home on Tuesday evening as they hosted the Saints of Limestone. The Lakers stayed undefeated at the Loch as they defeated Limestone, 70-55.
After the Saints started off the game scoring the first four points, a three by
Jadah Waite and a layup by
Devyne Turner pulled the Lakers ahead, 5-4. Neither team had any momentum in the quarter as the biggest lead was by four points. During the quarter, the Lakers saw three-balls from Jordan Jones and
Hannah Wright as the two teams went into the second quarter tied at 22.
The Lakers distanced themselves from the Saints early in the second quarter. Threes by Wright and Laylah Davis highlighted a 10-1 run by the Lakers to start the quarter. Clayton State led 32-23. The Lakers continued to dominate the quarter as they only surrendered seven points.
The Lakers finished the quarter on a 10-1 run and led the Saints, 49-29, at the half.
Taniya Patrick scored five of the final 10 points, and Jordan Jones nailed a three-pointer. Clayton State shot 57% from behind the arc and 58% from the field.

The third quarter was not kind for the Lakers as they were only able to scatter six points. The Saints started the quarter going on a 5-0 run until
Raven Riley hit a layup.
Jessica Maye and Dana Johnson were the only other points for the Lakers as they led 55-42 going into the fourth.
Audrey McElhaney provided the early offense of the fourth quarter as she notched the first six Laker points as they led 61-44. With 3:11 to go in the game, Riley knocked down a three-pointer and extended the Laker lead to 20 at 68-48.
The Saints outscored the Lakers, 7-2, in the final three minutes but Clayton State sealed the victory at home, 70-55.
