ATLANTA – The Clayton State women's basketball team traveled up I-75 as they played the Panthers of Clark Atlanta University on Wednesday night.  The Lakers won their second-straight game, 64-49.

The Panthers took full control in the beginning of the first quarter as they scored six of the first eight points.  Jessica Maye tossed in the lone points for the Lakers as they trailed, 6-2.  Down 8-4, Jordan Jones made a jumper and I'Uana Slaughter drained a three to make the score, 9-8.  Jada Francois Lubin and Audrey McElhaney combined to score the final five points of the quarter as the Lakers took a 14-10 going into the second.

The Lakers looked to the scoring of Dana Johnson to start the second quarter as she sparked a 7-3 run and put Clayton State ahead, 21-13.  The Panthers then scored nine of the next 11 points and pulled within one at 23-23.  McElhaney finished the half with a layup with 22 ticks left as the Lakers led 25-22 going into the half.  Waite and McElhaney led the team with four points.

Halftime: Clayton State 25, Clark Atlanta 23

Laylah Davis came out of the break on fire as she buried a pair of threes to start the third quarter.  Clayton State extended its lead to 31-22.  After the Panthers made a layup, the Lakers continued their hot start and marked the game's next eight points.  Diamond Swift and McElhaney combined for those eight points as the Lakers jumped out to a 15-point lead at 39-24.  The Panthers then countered with their own 13-3 run to end the quarter, but the Lakers hung on and led 42-37 going into the final quarter.

The Lakers extended their lead to start the fourth quarter as they tossed in the first seven points.  Taniya Patrick scored five of the seven points during that stretch.  The Laker defense came out and put on a show in the fourth quarter as they only allowed a pair of Panther field goals.   The last Clark Atlanta field goal of the quarter was with 6:37 left in the game.

Buckets by Swift, McElhaney, and Davis down the stretch was enough as the Lakers took down the Panthers of Clark Atlanta, 64-49.
