AUGUSTA, Ga. – Clayton State Athletics had three cross country student-athletes named to their respective Peach Belt Conference Team of Academic Distinction, the league announced Wednesday.
This season, the PBC Teams of Academic Distinction are presented by Barnes & Noble College
James Kilgore repeats for the men's cross country team while
Stephanie Escobar and
Sasha Knowles also make consecutive appearances on the women's side.
To be eligible for the team, a student-athlete must 1) participate in at least half of his/her team's events and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and 3) completed at least one full academic year at his or her current institution and has reached sophomore athletic eligibility.
This is Escobar's third time making the list. A health science major, she competed in four of the five races this season. She ran her personal best 5k in at the PBC Championships in October.
Knowles makes her second appearance on the Team of Academic Distinction after putting together a solid year. The Biology major ran in all five races.
Kilgore also makes his second appearance. A nursing major, Kilgore competed in all five races. He set personal bests in the 8k, 5k and 6k this season.
