BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Clayton State women's track & field team competed in Sunday's KMS Invitational at the Birmingham CrossPlex and came away with solid performances across all events. 

The Lakers were led by a pair of second place results and one fifth. Starting with the 4x200m relay, the squad of Maya Adams, Cayla Brown, Kassidy Harper and Paige Searles ran a 1:48.98 and missed out on first by less than a second. 

Ny'Asia Green gave the Lakers its only other podium finish by placing second in the triple jump in a field of 23 competitors. Green set a distance of 11.17m on her second attempt to take first place until losing it on Kaylee Lowe (Life Univ.) cleared 11.46m on her final attempt. 

Ariyonna Jones ran a 1:00.60 in the 400m to finish fifth and ahead of 32 other runners. 

Maya Adams advanced to the semifinal round of the 60m with a time of 8.08 in the prelims. 

The Lakers return to the track on Feb. 12 as they head to Sewanee, Tenn. for the Sewanee Indoor Invitational.
