ATLANTA – The Clayton State men's basketball team took on Georgia Tech Sunday afternoon and fell 103-53 in a non-conference matchup.
Sunday marks the first time in program history that the two teams met for a regular-season matchup.
Tech jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead, but the Lakers responded and led 5-3 at the 17:25 mark. The Yellow Jackets however stormed back and took the lead for good at 10-7 with 15:54 left to play in the first half.
The defending ACC champions slowly built its lead and led 51-20 at halftime.
The Yellow Jackets shot an unreal 62.5%
as they picked up their eighth win of the season.
The second half was much of the same as the Lakers could never close the gap.
Clayton State will play its third game in as many days on Monday with a Peach Belt Conference matchup against Lander.
Jalen Shaw led the Lakers with 10 points as he went 4-of-4 from the field.
Nine players scored at least two points.
Xavier Womack added nine points and four assists while
Austin Hadden scored pulled down five rebounds.
