BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Clayton State men's track & field team hit the track for the first time in over a month on Sunday with the Emory CrossPlex Showdown.
The Lakers last competed on Dec. 3 at the Clemson Opener.
Twelve student-athletes competed in at least one event with many competing in multiple events.
Mississippi College took first place among the 14 schools to compete. The field was made up of several Division II, Division III and NAIA institutions. The Lakers placed 11th.
Running in the 400m,
Nigel Roulhac had one the Lakers' best individual result of the day with a fifth place finish in a race that included 23 runners. His time of 50.69 marks the fifth fastest indoor 400m time in program history.
Titus Hand also finished in the top half of the 400m, placing 12th while
Gary Moore took home 13th in the race.
James Kilgore brought home a top-10 result in the 800m, running a 2:03.57, placing him 8-of-27.
Darryl Jefferson placed 13th in the 800m with a 2:05.67.
In the triple jump,
Abijah Wilcox cleared 13.00m, putting him fourth among 13 competitors and giving him the highest individual result for the Lakers.
Kelvin Oppong ran a 7.19 in the 60m, earning him the eighth fastest time in program history and 19-of-39 in the race.
The men closed the meet with a solid performance in the 4x400m relay. The squad of Roulhac, Kilgore, Jefferson and Hand placed second with a time of 3:22.68.
Clayton State returns to the Magic City on Sunday for the KMS Invitational which will be held at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
