MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Clayton State men's basketball team battled Georgia College to a 72-60 defeat in Saturday's Peach Belt Conference matchup.
Georgia College (9-2, 9-2 PBC) jumped out to an early 8-3 lead before the Lakers (0-8, 0-8 PBC) used a 15-2 run in a span of 3:38 to pull ahead 18-10 with 12:41 left to play in the first half.
Clayton State maintained the advantage and led by as many as nine before the Bobcats fought back to tie the score 29-29 with 4:10 left. Georgia College hit a 3-pointer with five seconds left in the half to take its final lead of the game, 36-34.
Stef Korfas, who scored 11 points, went 3-of-4 from behind the arc in the first half. In addition to the 11 points, the junior added five rebounds and five assists.
The Bobcats held the lead throughout the second and went up 54-44 at 13:28.
An 8-0 run seemed to be the turning in point in the game as the Bobcats pulled ahead by 18 with 5:24 to play. The Lakers would battle until the final buzzer as
Jordan Curtis hit a three with four seconds to play.
Ricardo Saams Jr. added 11 points and eight rebounds while Curtis scored 10.
COMING UP:
- Clayton State will play a third-straight road game on Monday as the Lakers make a trip to Augusta. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
- The Lakers then host Young Harris on Wednesday, February 24, for Senior Day before traveling to North Georgia on Saturday.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
