AMERICUS, Ga. – The Clayton State men's basketball team lost 80-59 to Georgia Southwestern on Wednesday night in a Peach Belt Conference matchup.
Georgia Southwestern (10-4, 8-4 PBC) jumped out to an 11-2 lead prior the 16-minute media timeout and maintained a single-digit lead for most of the first half. The Hurricanes pulled ahead by 10 with 22 seconds remaining in the half and held a 42-31 lead at halftime.
Stef Korfas played 38 minutes for the second consecutive game and scored 14 points while adding four rebounds, three assists and two steals.
The second half did not fare well for the Lakers (0-7, 0-7 PBC) as GSW built a 21-point lead with 16:55 left to play.
Clayton State pulled within 16, but never trailed by more than 23 as the Hurricanes closed out the win.
Ricardo Saams Jr. chipped in 13 points and six boards. Freshman
Micah McAllister scored eight points and pulled down a team-high eight rebounds in 24 minutes.
COMING UP:
- The Lakers head to Georgia College on Saturday before hitting the road on Monday for a matchup against Augusta.
- Clayton State then hosts Young Harris on Wednesday.
