AUGUSTA, Ga. – A total of three Clayton State student-athletes have been named to the 2018-19 Peach Belt Conference Men's Track & Field All-Academic Team following yet another an impressive performance in the classroom.
Juniors
Evan Ortiz (McDonough, Ga.) and
Keldren Reddick (Thomasville, Ga.) and senior
T.J. Witherspoon (Thomasville, Ga.) have each been named to the All-Academic Team and each has been there before.
Ortiz is majoring in Computer Science and Reddick and Witherspoon are Business and Biology majors, respectively. They are among just 19 honorees in the PBC this season for men's track & field.
Including the past three cross country seasons and two previous track & field campaigns, this marks the sixth time that Witherspoon has been named All-Academic, which is the most an individual can achieve. It is the second consecutive year that both Ortiz and Reddick have earned a spot on the team.
In order to qualify for the Academic All-Conference Team, student-athletes must have been at their institution for one calendar year, have achieved a cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.30 or higher on a 4.0 scale and competed in at least 50-percent of their sport as a significant contributor. The GPA is calculated through the previous semester.
The Peach Belt Conference Men's Track & Field Academic All-Conference Teams are released near the close of the season each year and prior to the NCAA Division II Championships.
