Clayton State's Woof Becomes First Laker to Earn Multiple Appearances on PBC Men's Golf All-Academic Team

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Clayton State junior Nick Woof (Leighton Buzzard, England) has become the first Laker to earn multiple selections to the Peach Belt Conference Men's Golf All-Academic Team in the 11-year history of the award as announced by the league on Tuesday, April 16.

Woof was one of the first two members of the program to earn a spot on the team a year ago and repeats that performance this year with a 3.35 GPA. On the course he has delivered a number of impressive finishes, including a record setting round at the UNG Fall Invitational (10/2).

Third on the club with a 73.67 stroke average through a team-high tying 24 rounds, that was aided greatly by an eight-under par 64 at UNG. That equaled the lowest round on record in program history and bested the lowest relative to par effort in team history. It also beat the marks of two individuals playing professionally in Will Wilcox and Adam Short and was good for a 2-of-66 finish.

That performance earned him Peach Belt Conference Golfer of the Week on October 4, 2018. Not only was it the first of his career, it was just the 13th time in team history a Laker had won the award and made him the eighth individual all-time.

His round of 64 is currently tied for the lowest in the PBC this season and helped earn him the first of two All-Tournament honors. The other came at the Bearcat Classic (3/26) where he tied for fifth out of 110 golfers and helped lead Clayton State to a 2-of-22 finish. In addition to those efforts he also posted a pair of Top-10 finishes.

Woof is among 10 individuals selected to the men's team this year. In order to qualify for the Academic All-Conference Team, student-athletes must have been at their institution for one calendar year, have achieved a cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.30 or higher on a 4.0 scale and competed in at least 50-percent of their sport as a significant contributor.

The GPA is calculated through the previous semester and an individual that is a graduate transfer to an institution other than where they earned their undergraduate degree is immediately eligible.

"Really proud of Nick in making it two straight," said head men's golf coach Hank Kim. "He's produced some really good rounds this year and has helped get us to the brink of being nationally ranked while taking care of business in the classroom."

The Peach Belt Conference Men's Golf Academic All-Conference Team is released near the close of the regular season each year and prior to the conference championship. Clayton State men's golf is back in action this weekend when they begin the three day PBC Tournament on Friday, April 19 when they head to Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida.
