GREENVILLE, S.C. – Clayton State men's golf polished off the Southern Tide Classic at 6-of-15 on Tuesday, March 5 following rounds of 289-282-300-871.
Senior
Andres Caballero (Mexico City, Mexico) led the Lakers as he tied for 15
th out of 75 golfers after shooting a 72-68-76-216 over the two-day tournament. Freshman
Javier Gonzalez (San Jose del Cabo, Mexico) tied for 26
th with a 70-74-75-219 and junior
Nick Woof (Leighton Buzzard, England) deadlocked at 36
th (82-68-72).
Freshman
Augusto Oliva (Buenos Aires, Argentina) shot a 71-75-77-223 to tie for 38
th while senior
Fran Hernandez (Cancun, Mexico) rounded things out in a tie for 58
th (76-72-82-230).
No. 16 Lincoln Memorial claimed the tournament with an 841 and was followed by No. 19 Carson-Newman and Coker in a second place tie at 859. No. 12/13 Limestone finished fourth at 862 and Queens closed out the top five at 863.
The Lakers are now off until the Bobcat Invitational from March 18-19. That tournament will be hosted by Georgia College at the Cucowilla Golf Club in Eatonton, Georgia.
