AUGUSTA, Ga. – As the Peach Belt Conference regular season comes to a close this weekend, Clayton State has placed a record 10 individuals on the 2019 PBC Women's Soccer All-Academic Team as announced by the league on Thursday, November 7. It is the most that the Department has ever had from one team.

Earning spots on the team were senior defender
Manoly Baquerizo (Guayaquil, Ecuador), sophomore midfielder
Natalie Barbara (Ballarat, Australia), senior defender
Janne Brouer (Aarhus, Denmark), sophomore midfielder
Pia Haug (Ytre Enebakk, Norway), sophomore defensive midfielder Moa Lofman (Karlstad, Sweden), sophomore
Isabel Massa (Caracas, Venezuela), senior midfielder
Jane McKevitt (Thurles, Ireland), sophomore defensive midfielder
Chiara Rosener (Minden, Germany), sophomore forward
Beatriz Zabalegui (San Sebastian de los Reyes, Spain) and junior defensive midfielder
Ann-Cathrin Zabel (Schwarme, Germany).

Baquerizo made the team with a 3.65 GPA in Psychology and Human Services, Barbara in Communication and Media Studies (3.61), Brouer in Business (3.87), Haug in Accounting (3.51) and Loftman in Psychology (3.78). They were joined by Massa in Health and Fitness Management (4.0), McKevitt in Mathematics (3.87), Rosener in Biology (3.67), Zabalegui in Biology (3.88) and Zabel in Health and Fitness Management (3.85).

For Baquerizo, Brouer and McKevitt it is the third straight year they have earned a spot on the team, which is the maximum possible. Zabel earns her second in as many years of being eligible while the remainder of the Lakers collect the first of their careers.

In order to qualify for the Academic All-Conference Team, student-athletes must have been at their institution for one calendar year, have achieved a cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.30 or higher on a 4.0 scale and competed in at least 50-percent of their sport as a significant contributor.

The GPA is calculated through the previous semester and an individual that is a graduate transfer to an institution other than where they earned their undergraduate degree is immediately eligible.

The Peach Belt Conference Women's Soccer Academic All-Conference Team is released near the close of the regular season each year and prior to the conference championship. Clayton State women's soccer closed the regular season tomorrow, Saturday, November 9 at Albany State at 1 p.m.
