GAFFNEY, S.C. – For the first time in her illustrious career, and just the 16
th time in program history, Clayton State senior midfielder
Manoly Baquerizo (Guayaquil, Ecuador) has been named a Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) All-Southeast Region selection as she earned Second-Team honors as announced by that organization on Wednesday, November 20.
Â
This season Baquerizo helped lead the Lakers to the Peach Belt Conference Tournament Championship Game while registering eight goals and four assists for 20 points. In that game they would hold No. 3 Flagler scoreless to head to overtime before finally falling in the 95
th minute. Directly before that they knocked off No. 18 North Georgia in the semifinals to earn that spot.
Â
On the year she scored in seven different games and recorded at least one point in 10 games, including the go-ahead and clinching goals in a key PBC victory over Young Harris on November 2. She also delivered the tying goal in what would be a 1-1, 5-4 PK victory in the league quarterfinals at UNC Pembroke to help propel the Lakers on an incredible postseason run.
Â
Those performances helped her earn the first All-PBC First-Team recognition in her career. She finishes that career with 28 goals and 18 assists for 74 points in 66 games.
Â
D2CCA/DAKTRONICS ALL-REGION HISTORY
