MORROW, Ga. – A strong start to the 2018 campaign will get a serious test as Clayton State (3-2-2, 1-2-0 PBC) heads to No. 3 Columbus State (6-0-1, 3-0-0 PBC) on Saturday, September 29. Game time is set for 5 p.m. in Columbus, Georgia.
 
All-time, the Lakers are 3-14 against Columbus dating back to the first meeting on October 16, 2004. Since that 2-1 win, the teams have played at least once in each of the ensuing 14 seasons, with postseason games in 2005, 2008 and 2013.
 
The first of those in 2005 was a 2-1 overtime Clayton State victory to win the Peach Belt Conference Tournament Championship and clinch a berth in the NCAA Division II Tournament for the first time in program history. Most recently the Cougars posted a 4-1 decision at Laker Field on October 4, 2017 and have taken 13 of the last 14 meetings.
