Boxscore COLUMBUS, Ga. – Clayton State (14-14, 11-11 PBC) wrapped up the Peach Belt Conference regular season slate as they battled rival Columbus State (18-8, 16-6 PBC) before falling 80-53 in an NCAA Division II women's basketball game on Saturday, February 24.

Senior forward
Abreyln Rackley (St. Louis, Mo.) led the way with a double-double of 11 points and 13 rebounds to with a pair of steals while senior guard
Aysia Grimsley (Marietta, Ga.) delivered a team-high 13 points with three thefts. Junior forward
Jhade Hayes (Land O'Lakes, Fla.) added 11 points and five caroms and freshman guard
Tatiana Foster (Atlanta, Ga.) finished with six points and three steals.

It would take four and a half minutes for Clayton State to get on the board as the Cougars built a 5-0 lead before freshman guard
Dalania Clardy (Riverdale, Ga.) knocked down a three to cut it to two. It would be only a stopgap as the lead ballooned to 12-5 by the 3:17 mark and 17-8 by the end of the first quarter.

A 6-2 burst would cut it to five at 19-14 with 2:23 gone by in the second but it would not last. Over the next four minutes Columbus scored 13 straight to push the lead to a daunting 32-14 margin with 3:38 left in the half. From there the Lakers would score the final six points of the frame to head to the break trailing 32-20.

The margin would remain right around there as the Cougars maintained a 49-34 advantage by the 1:53 mark before closing the period with a 12 point margin, 50-38. It would quickly grow to a 21 point spread at 64-43 with 5:58 left. That would be all they would need as they coasted to the 80-53 victory.

Machala Raymonville posted a double-double of 23 points and 14 rebounds to go with three assists and a pair of steals and Tatiana Wayne added 18 points, five steals and four boards. Chrisalyn Boston just missed a double-double with 11 points, nine caroms and four blocks and Tatum Jarvis had nine points. Eboni Williams rounded things out with eight points

The Lakers have now qualified for the 2018 Peach Belt Conference Tournament as the No. 7 seed. They will head to Greenwood, South Carolina to face No. 2 seed Lander on Wednesday, February 28. It is the fifth time in the last seven seasons the teams have met in the PBC Tournament, including three straight. The latter have all been on the road. Game time has yet to be announced.
