MORROW, Ga. – A former Division I cheerleader at Grambling,
Antonio Jones has been named head cheerleading coach at Clayton State as announced by Director of Athletics
Tim Duncan on Friday, September 23.

Most recently Jones served as a part-time assistant cheerleading coach at Booker T. Washington High School in Atlanta, Georgia. While there he was responsible for teaching cheerleading safety basics, choreographing dance routines and helping to advance the skill level for the team and individuals.

Prior to that he was a cheerleading instructor at John L. McClellan High School in Little Rock, Arkansas. There he judged the program's team tryouts, created and taught dance and cheer routines and aided in the recruitment of MHS cheerleaders to the college level.

In addition to his experience at the high school level, Jones has also served as a cheerleading instructor at the MOKA Cheer & Dance Association in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. In that role he taught students skills that translated to cheerleading and worked closely with other staff instructors. He also traveled to various states as a recruiter.

At the collegiate level, Jones was a five year member of the Grambling State University cheerleading squad as a stunter. During that time he earned an athletic scholarship and was part of a program that went to the National Cheerleader Association (NCA) five times. He also helped led the team a No. 3 national ranking which was the highest in program history.

A 2010 graduate of Grambling State University, Jones holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice.
