AUGUSTA, Ga. – As the regular season winds down to the final weekend, three Clayton State's women's tennis student-athletes have been named to the 2016 Peach Belt Conference Women's Tennis All-Academic Teams the league announced today.
 
Senior Raluca Pavel (Bacau, Romania) and juniors Darina Drozdova (St. Petersburg, Russia) and Kristiin Mets (Kuressaare, Estonia) have each been named to the All-Academic Team, placing half of the squad on that prestigious list for the second straight year.
 
Pavel is majoring in Political Science and minoring in Sociology while Drozdova and Mets are majoring in Communication and Media Studies and Politics, respectively. They are among 38 honorees in the Peach Belt this season.
 
"There are few things in life that are certain and for the past few years, it's been certain that Raluca, Kristiin and Darina will make the PBC All-Academic Team," said head coach Le'Trone Mason. "This goes to show that they not only put in the work to be successful at tennis, but they also put in the work to be great students."
 
In order to qualify for the Academic All-Conference Team, student-athletes must have been at their institution for one calendar year, have achieved a cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.30 or higher on a 4.0 scale and competed in at least 50-percent of their sport as a significant contributor. The GPA is calculated through the previous semester.
 
The Peach Belt Conference Women's Tennis Academic All-Conference Teams are released near the close of the regular season each year and prior to the conference championship. Clayton State closes out the PBC slate with back-to-back home matches against Lander and No. 50 USC Aiken on Saturday, April 16 and Sunday, April 17.
