Clayton State Women's Soccer Exhibition at Kennesaw State to be Televised Nationally on ESPN3

MORROW, Ga. – For the fifth straight season, Clayton State women's soccer continues the tradition of taking on former league foe and current Division I member Kennesaw State in exhibition action, but with one major difference – this time the game will be aired live nationally on ESPN3.

Scheduled for 7 p.m. on Sunday, August 30 at Fifth Third Bank Stadium, the game will mark the fifth straight season the teams have met and the ninth time in the past 13 years. It will also be a regular season contest for the Owls while Clayton State, as a Division II program taking on a Division I, will credit it as an exhibition.

The game will be shown live on ESPN3, bringing Laker women's soccer to a national audience for the first time in program history. Viewers can access the ESPN3 feed for free through www.ClaytonStateSports.com, provided they have a television subscription through participating providers. ESPN3 is also available at no cost to U.S. college students on computers connected to on-campus educational networks.

A former Peach Belt Conference member, Kennesaw State began transitioning to NCAA Division I in 2004 following a 43-1-1 overall record the previous two years and winning the 2003 NCAA Division II National Championship.

The Lakers and Owls have met eight times since 2002, including a narrow 1-0 loss in the 2002 PBC Championship Game and a 2-0 loss during KSU's 25-1 national championship season of 2003. Since switching divisions, the teams have met six times.

In 2004, KSU posted a 2-1 decision (10/23) before the clubs hooked up for an early exhibition in 2007 (8/14 – no score). Following a three-year hiatus, the teams have met for four consecutive years, beginning in 2011.

That season the Owls posted a 2-0 regular season victory (9/3) before adding a 5-1 decision in 2012 (8/13), a 3-0 win in 2013 (8/17) and 6-1 victory in 2014 (8/15). The last three meetings have all been exhibition's for both clubs.

The Lakers enter the 2015 season following a 12-8 campaign a year ago that saw them nationally ranked for three weeks while KSU is 1-1 on the season.

In addition to the game being carried live on ESPN3 fans can also follow live stats for free.
