HAMPTON, Ga. – On a beautiful 70-degree day, more than 80 individuals played in the 2015 Clayton State Laker Club Golf Classic at Crystal Lake Golf & Country Club in Hampton, Ga. on Monday, August 31. All proceeds of the event benefit the ongoing educational pursuits of current and former Clayton State student-athletes.

Set as a best ball scramble for the format, the Classic also featured a number of special events and prize opportunities. Dixon Golf sponsored closest to the pin contests on Hole No. 5 and No. 17 and four holes had Hole-in-One contests.

Allan Vigil Ford sponsored golf apparel on Hole No. 2, a vacation trip and a Ford F-150 pickup truck on Hole No. 5 and two dozen golf balls on Hole No. 17. Also featured was a silent auction as well as a raffle for various prizes.

Following a showcase by long drive specialist Jason Chester of Gainesville, Ga. prior to the festivities the teams took to the course in a shotgun start. Chester then got things off with a bang in his long drive capacity on Hole No. 1. Following a practice shot, he proceeded to deliver a hole-in-one on the second swing of the day.

Also highlighting the day was lunch sponsored and provided by Marco's Pizza and the awards ceremony at close of day. Each of the top three finishing teams as well as the last place finisher received various prize packages from Marco's and Crystal Lake Golf and Country Club, just to name a few.
