Nicholas W. Collins

Collins joined Clayton State women’s basketball as a student assistant coach in November of 2018. He is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day and gameday preparations for the program and handling duties within the office.
 
COLLEGIATE EXPERIENCE: CLAYTON STATE (2014-PRESENT)
A regular presence around Clayton State Athletics and the campus as a whole since the Fall of 2014, Collins brings not only a passion for the sport of basketball but also varied experience throughout his career.
 
He currently serves as an intern within the Division of Student Affairs for both the Vice President and Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students. In that position he has played a significant role in Student Government Association activities related to the office and helped develop several protocols and proceedures.
 
Additionally, he is the immediate Past Southern Region Assistant Vice President of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity (2017-18) and served on that organization’s National Board of Directors. In that capacity he was part of the planning of the General Organization which consists of more than 700 chapters worldwide.
 
During his time in Morrow, Georgia, Collins has also served as a Laker Orientation Leader Team Lead with the Office of Recruitment and Admissions as well as a student laboratory technician with the Department of Biology.
 
He has also served on multiple committees, including the Vice President of Student Affairs National Search Committee, University Hearing Panel, Institutional Communication Audit, Student Fees Advisory Board and Campus Safety Task Force.
 
ACCOLADES AND RECOGNITION
Throughout his collegiate career Collins has amassed a number of impressive accolades. These include Outstanding Greek Member of the Year (2017), Alpha Phi Alpha, Ronnie S. Jenkins Scholar recipient (2017), Clayton State Sophomore of the Year (2016), Excellence in Student Involvement recipient (2015) and Clayton State Presidential Scholar (2014).
 
MEMBERSHIPS
In addition to his activities on campus, Collins is a member of the National Association for Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA), Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and Sigma Alpha Pi. The latter is the National Society for Leadership and Success.
 
EDUCATION
Collins will graduate from Clayton State in December 2018 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology.
