Jason Roscoe joined Laker Nation as assistant men's basketball coach in July 2021.

Roscoe came to Clayton State with over 15 years of coaching experience at the high school and junior college levels.

In his first year with the Lakers, Roscoe helped recruit several freshmen and transfers to help rebuild the men’s basketball program. One of those recruits was Jalen Shaw who left Division I St. Bonaventure to come to Clayton State.

Shaw earned second-team All-Conference honors and was named PBC Player of the Week once. He also earned two PBC Plays of the Month.

Roscoe arrived in Morrow after living in Pennsylvania, where he served as an assistant professor at Community College of Philadelphia. While in Philly, Roscoe coached for a local AAU U15 boys basketball team. While working with Cross Fit AAU, he recruited and met with prospective athletes, spearheaded all team fundraising projects and monitored academic performance.

He began his coaching career at Liberty High School where he served as Head Boys Varsity Basketball Coach from 2004-07. He compiled a 38-23 record and helped build a playoff caliber program during that time. Prior to his arrival, the team finished 0-23.

He then coached at Lehigh Carbon Community College and Northampton Community College.

Roscoe played under Coach Alexander Mansfield University. He also played football for two seasons and ran track for one year for the Mountaineers. He was named team captain for his final two seasons of basketball and helped lead the team to a 39-18 record during that span.

He earned a bachelor’s (criminal justice) and master’s degree (education) from Mansfield. In 2019, he received an academic advising certificate from Sam Houston State University.

Roscoe is a native of York, Pa. and played for Coach Alexander while he was at York High School. A three-sport athlete, Roscoe earned All-State recognition in basketball, football and track. In April 2001, he was named one of the 40 Greatest Athletes to come from York and he attended the same high school as Chris Doleman (NFL Hall of Famer) and Super Bowl LV Championship Head Coach Bruce Arians.
