Dré Anthony joined Laker Nation in August of 2021 as an assistant for the men's basketball program. Coach Alexander promoted Coach Anthony as the Associate Head Coach in March of 2025. Â
A former student-athlete under Alexander, Anthony coached at the high school level in Atlanta for four years prior to arrival in Morrow.
In his first year with the Lakers, Dré helped recruit several freshmen and transfers to help rebuild the men’s basketball program. One of those recruits was Jalen Shaw who left Division I St. Bonaventure to come to Clayton State.

Shaw earned second-team All-Conference honors and was named PBC Player of the Week once. He also earned two PBC Plays of the Month.
Anthony has served as an assistant girl’s basketball coach under Riikka Lehtonen and a middle school advisor at The Lovett School in Atlanta. While working with the Lions, Anthony helped guide the team to a Region Championship during the 2018-19 season. That season also saw Lovett reach the GHSA State Quarterfinals.
Following the 2018-19 season, Anthony was named the Region 5-AAA Assistant Coach of the Year.
Prior to joining The Lovett School, Anthony served as assistant boy's coach at Valley High School in New Kensington, Pa. He helped the team to a Section Championship and a PIAA State Quarterfinal appearance.

Anthony began his playing career at Community College of Beaver County where he was named an All-American and Region 20 Player of the Year. Following two seasons at Beaver County, Anthony joined USC Aiken and played one season for Coach Alexander. He served as team captain and helped the Pacers to the PBC tournament.

He would close his career at Clarion University and scored 1,846 points across his four years of collegiate basketball. He went on to play professionally for Altopascio in Italy and for the Steel City Yellow Jackets in the ABA.

Anthony received a master's degree in sport management from California University of Pennsylvania in 2020, a bachelor's degree in liberal studies from Clarion in 2016 and an associates degree in education from Beaver County in 2014.
